Roof rafters normally leave the centre of the roof void fairly open, whereas the standard design of roof trusses obstructs the space.

Roof vents (or turbine vents) come in many forms, but generally include some type of weather-shedding hood and a flange around the base that forms a seal between the vent and the surrounding roofing material.

Roof trusses, which are structural components of houses or commercial buildings, support the weight of roof timbers and coverings.

Roof Inspection
Now is the time to be checking out your roof to determine if it needs any repairs.

Roof experts may say to replace asphalt shingles at the first sign of wear, but others will contend to wait till the shingles are lifting up, shrinking ... and breaking apart before any major work is done to the roof.

Wood roof trusses to span anywhere from 30 to 60 feet (and even more, with specialized designs) can now be bought from lumber yards at prices between $1 and $2 per lineal foot.
