Twin gables, sidelights and an arched entryway accent the facade, while decorative ceiling treatments, walk-in closets, and French doors adorn the interior of this house plan.

Try entrance doors with transoms and sidelights. Where space is limited, a single sidelight may work instead of two flanking an entry. Think about etched and translucent patterns for the sidelight glass if privacy or security is a concern.

Sidelights - A fixed frame of glass beside a window or door.
Sill - The lowest horizontal member in a door, window, or sash frame. Generally slanted down to the outside to shed standing water.

But given the size and positioning of some vanity mirrors, sidelights can be impractical (mounting them directly to the mirror is always an option, but at greater planning and cost). Only then do I suggest a fixture for over the mirror.

Choose your entry door style, your glass style, wood and color options, sidelight and transom options, and you can create an entry door for your home or building that is one-of-a-kind.

It will be especially heavy if the unit has sidelights or a transom. Set the bottom firmly into place first, taking care not to drag it across the beads of sealant. Next, tip the door up into position.

The front door of a home greats your guests and its styling says a lot about the home owner.

If the front door is in good condition, it may need only refinishing or perhaps the addition of a sidelight or two. Consider also replacing exterior light fixtures or adding one or more planters around the entranceway or on the porch steps.
