A sleeper sofa is one of the most tempting pieces of furniture to consider buying, especially when living space is at a premium.

 


Sleeper - Usually, a wood member embedded in concrete, as in a floor, that serves to support and to fasten subfloor or flooring.
Soffit - Usually the underside of an overhanging cornice.

Sleeper wall: Supports a timber ground floor, and is often built in honeycomb brickwork to allow ventilation of the space under the floor.

Sleeper (or Hide-A-Bed): A sofa, loveseat, or chair that converts into a bed. Also available in some sectionals. Find a sleeper sofa.
Sleepy Hallow Chair: A large upholstered chair with a hollowed seat, high back and solid low arms.

A Sleeper Tool
For some unknown reason I bought this small pair of needle nosed vise-grip pliers years ago (The look like they're for some unusual specialized use.). They've solved many problems I simply couldn't have solved without them.

Ottoman sleeper may work like a footstool as well as a foldout single bed.

3) Attach the decking
Cut 2x6 decking boards to length. Align the boards with a framing square, and attach them to the sleepers with 10d galvanized nails or 3-inch deck screws.

Finding the right sleeper sofa can be a challenge, because you definitely don't want a couch that looks like a cheap pull-out bed. Often times you find fabric sleeper sofas, but sleek, luxurious leather ones do exist.

As well, some pillows are flatter while others are fatter, which is all about personal taste: back sleepers would do better with a flat pillow, while side sleepers need something fatter that offers more neck support.

Suspended timber floors - The joists supporting the floor boards or chipboard are themselves supported by small "sleeper" walls at ground floor level or wall hangers at other floors.

The code in my area wisely requires treated lumber for below-grade framing, including sleepers, but does not require treated plywood subfloors.

2" x 4" sleeper over a concrete floor- Powder-actuated fasteners (PAFs) are the most common because they are fast. If you're not certified for PAFs and only laying a small area, use hammer anchors.

I have installed 3000sq ft of pavers,some on a gravel base and some on just sand both on moderate slopes as driveways and extensions. I bury rr sleepers as my edging. I also made a wallcorner high enough to serve as a pick-up high unloading dock.
