Soil pipe-The pipe that directs the sewage of a house to the receiving sewer, building drain or building sewer.
Soil stack-The vertical piping that terminates in a roof vent and carries off the vapors of a plumbing system.

 


SOIL PIPE:Any pipe which handles discharge from the toilet.
SPLASH BLOCK:A concrete or fiberglass pan placed under a downspout to catch water, dissipate its force, and lead it away from the foundation wall.

Soil pipe- A large pipe that carries liquid and solid wastes to a sewer or septic tank.

Existing soil pipes are likely to be vented above roof level and it may be possible to boss a connection into this, or into another soil pipe on the floor below.

110mm diameter Soil pipe and main domestic drainpipe
The main soil waste pipe is 110mm diameter, two types of plastic are used - one for the external down pipe and the other for below ground installation.

These were excessive mortar (see first image below) left at soil pipe joints, roots (see second image below) from trees and plants and broken pipes.

I would like to know if it is an acceptable practice to insulate around the soil pipe going up from the basement to the attic space. Our pipe runs right behind our kitchen cupboards and bathtub area. In the winter time these walls get extremely cold.

Soil pipes handle solid wastes from toilets and serve as the main house drain. They are typically 3 or 4 inches around. Waste pipes carry wastewater from sinks, showers, and appliances, and are usually at least 1-1/2 inches in diameter.

The drains will carry away wastewater, but there are bigger pipes that are part of the waste system that carry solids called soil pipes.
