Thixotropic - A term used to describe materials that have a gel-like consistency until stirred so tend not to run or drip.

 


Thixotropic: Adjective which describes full-bodied material which undergoes a reduction in
viscosity when shaken, stirred, or otherwise mechanically disturbed and which readily recovers
the full-bodied condition on standing.

Thixotropic flow property of a suspension or dispersion. A composition which thins down on stirring is said to exhibit false body.

Thixotropic: A term used to describe paint that returns to a gel state after mixing.

non-drip (Thixotropic)
An alternative to ordinary gloss, non-drip paint is of a jelly-like consistency and is easier to use if not overloaded onto a brush and adequately 'laid off' on the surface.

The technical term for this kind of paint is 'thixotropic'. That is a paint which will become liquid upon stirring but will revert to jellied form when left to stand.
