Is vermiculite insulation a problem?
Prior to its close in 1990, much of the world’s supply of vermiculite came from a mine near Libby, Montana.

Vermiculite - A mineral closely related to mica, with the faculty of expanding on heating to form lightweight material with insulation quality.

Vermiculite- A mineral used as bulk insulation and also as aggregate in insulating and acoustical plaster and in insulating concrete floors.

Vermiculite: An aggregate somewhat similar to perlite that is used as an aggregate in lightweight roof decks and deck fills.

Vermiculite: Holds water, air and nutrients
Alfalfa, kenaf, sawdust and non-swelling marine clays (usually imported from Canada) are other potential potting mix ingredients that have good water- and air-holding capacity.

Vermiculite: A natural mineral that expands with the application of heat. The expansion process is called exfoliation and it is routinely accomplished in purpose-designed items. Vermiculite is formed by hydration of certain basaltic minerals.

vermiculite - a hydrous silicate mineral (mica) that can be expanded through heating to produce a light, airy material used, among things, as infill insulation ...

Vermiculite - An aggregate used in lightweight insulating concrete, formed by the heating and consequent expansion of a micaceous mineral.

VERMICULITE - Bulk insulation material similar to mica.
VOLT - A unit of electrical potential difference and electromotive force.

VERMICULITE: a natural mica expanded by heat to form lightweight thermal insulating material, used in the expanded state alone as loose fill or as aggregate with other materials.
VESTIBULE: A small lobby or entrance room in a house.

Vermiculite is a popular insulation material, but much of the vermiculite used in the U.S. before 1990 was contaminated with asbestos.

Vermiculite: One off a group of micaceous hydrated silicate minerals related to the chlorites and used in lightweight insulating concrete.

Viscosity: The resistance of a material to heat flow.

VERMICULITE: type of insulation.

WATER HAMMER: sound made by supply pipes when water is suddenly stopped by the quick closing of a valve.

Grover uses a vermiculite and concrete insulation mixture that is poured down the flue to fill the space between the liner and the flue and left to set.

The EPA started gathering information about ten years ago and found out the vermiculite mined for using in insulation has tremolite asbestos fibers which are tocix. Pepole have wondered for awhile why we have had such bad luck with cancer.
