The Albanian horse breed comprises of small horses which are members of the Balkan group. These are hardy and efficient horses. There are two types of species within this breed, Myzeqea and Mountains.

The Albanian Horse is a small horse which belongs to the Balkan group. It is hardy and very efficient. The Myzeqea type is larger and can grow up to 13.

The Albanian breed is part of the larger Balkan breed. As such, its physical characteristics are very similar to horses in the Balkan region.

Bred as animals of transport, the Albanian horse was reinvented in the 1990′s when an attempt was made to make the stock better suited for agricultural work.
