American Warmblood Horse

The American Warmblood, like many of the European Warmbloods, is generally thought to be any horse that fits into the warmblood type that is used primarily for jumping or dressage competition.

American Warmblood Society
The American Warmblood Society is a non-profit Sport Horse corporation
founded in 1983 and dedicated to the Olympic Sport Horse.

Therefore, American Warmbloods might be thought of as a more distinct "breed" than European Warmbloods. The American Warmblood type is a work in progress. For more information about its breeding contact the American Warmblood Society.

There are two registries who recognize American Warmbloods, the American Warmblood Society and the American Warmblood Registry and both are recognized by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses.

They are primarily used for dressage and jumping. They were the first studbook with an American Division. Interestingly enough, all American Warmbloods approved by the ISR are registered as Oldenburgs, regardless of their actual parentage.
