Anglo-Arabian horse
THE ANGLO-ARAB results from the crossing of the two pre-eminent horse breeds: the Thoroughbred , and its ancestor the Arab. It originated in the UK, where the Thoroughbred was developed in the 18th and 19th centuries.

 


The Anglo-Arabian horse is just what its name implies: a Thoroughbred (prefix Anglo) crossed with an Arabian horse. The cross can be made between a Thoroughbred stallion and Arabian mare, or vice-versa.

The Anglo-Arab is bred throughout Europe, with France being one of the foremost breeding centers.

The Anglo-Arabian is a fairly good-tempered horse that possesses strength, intelligence, and stamina. The Anglo-Arabian is well suited to most situations, although the Anglo-Arabian excels as a sport horse.

The Anglo-Arabian has appeared in studs throughout Europe, though most successful Anglo-Arabians (although the name suggests otherwise) actually are bred in France and at the Janow stud in Poland.

The Anglo-Arab breed originated in France with a crossing of English Thoroughbreds to pure Arabians.
