Arab Horse
A beautiful horse which has stamina, speed and agility. It is known for its effortless almost floating stride along with a slender outline and refined head which is dished in appearance.

The Arab is associated with the Middle East. But contrary to the fables from this region, the breed did not develop on its own or even originate in the Middle East.
The Arab is a versatile horse, once used in battles, but also awarded by its beauty. One of the fastest horses in the wild, the domesticated Arab is used in horse racings and other equestrian sports, especially those that involve jumping.

The Anglo-Arab is bred throughout Europe, with France being one of the foremost breeding centers.
The Anglo Arab horse originated in Britain but is bred elsewhere, especially in France, where great attention has been paid to the production of a specialist all-around horse for more than 150 years.
A Sardinian Anglo-Arab horse must obey the same rule as for any other Anglo-Arabian horse and that is to have at least 25% Arabian blood. The country of origin is Sardinia, which is obvious, because of the name itself.

Origins: The Arab horse originates from the desert lands of Asia and the most famous are the horses of the Bedouin Arabs, known as the Original or Elite Arab.
Thoroughbred and Arab blood was used to upgrade the local horses. Towards the end of the eighteenth century a determined effort was made to improve the Trakehner, or East Prussian as it was known.

Besides mythological and religious accounts of the Arab's origin, records show that the breed existed as long as 5000 years ago. The Arab has been very carefully bred throughout its history.
The Boulonnais is said to descend from the Arab horses imported by Caesar's legions and which remained along the coasts of the Pas-de-Calais in France.
It originated from Arab, Turk and Barb breeds. Selected stallions and mares were crossed with horses brought to Colonial America from England and Ireland in the early 1600s. The resulting horse was a strong, stout, heavily-muscled mount.
During the crusades (1100 - 1500), the Arab stallions brought back to Wales by the Crusaders left their definitive stamp on the Welsh Cob. This blend of the Arab and native type is evidenced by the excellent Cobs of today.
The Spanish horse, produced during Moorish rule by crossing Berber and Arab stallions with Iberian mares, was considered the most suitable mount because of its exceptional sturdiness, beauty, and intelligence.
The pony now has some Arab-type traits, especially in the head which is fine, with a concave profile, although it can be heavy. They have a long neck set on a straight shoulder.
The American quarter horse derives from the Turk, Arab and Barb breeds that were transported to North America by Spanish voyagers and merchants.
