The Barthais Pony is very much like the Landais Pony, although more robust and used for agriculture and other heavy work. This breed comes from France near the Stribrnem shore & is the result of local stock crossed with Berber.
- Barthais - The Barthais Heavy Horse breed developed in the land of France, around Barhais do l'Adour, which is how it got its name.
This pony is also known as Barthais or Poney Landais. It is strongly related to the larger (because it is more richly-fed) pony of the plains of the Chalosse near the Adour river and to the Barthais pony, which lives in the marshes of this river.
