This heavy horse breed is rather common in the United States: characterized by its familiar "blond" coat and known by the recognizable name of the Belgian.

Closely resembling the Belgian Heavy Draft, the Dutch Draft was developed from the Zeeland horse with crosses to the Belgian and Belgian Ardennes.

With the addition of Percheron, Shire, and Belgian Heavy Draft bloods a distinct breed was born. The American Cream Draft Horse Association was formed in 1944.

The familiar Belgian draft horse that we see in the United States has its ancestral genetic roots in the Brabant, which is also known as the Belgian Heavy Draft.

The Sokolsky developed through the crosses between the Belgian Heavy Draft, Belgian Ardennes, Norfolk, Dole Gudbrandsdal and Anglo-Norman stock. The result is a versatile draft and farm animals of great strength but without being excessively heavy.

The familiar "blond" Belgian Draft horse that we see in the United States has its roots in the Brabant, also known as the Belgian Heavy Draft. This name has been shortened to Belgian for common usage.

It was developed through crossing of horse breeds like Belgian Heavy Draft, Belgian Ardennes, Norfolk, Dole Gudbrandsdal, and Anglo-Norman stock.
