Caspian Horse
The Caspian is an ancient breed previously believed to have been extinct for over one thousand years. This breed is probably the most direct ancestor of the Oriental breeds and subsequently of all light horse breeds.

This ancient and tiny breed of horse (10 to 12.2 hands is common) was rediscovered in the 1960s on the shores of the Caspian Sea.

ORIGIN
In ancient history, the Caspian Horse graced the seal of King Darius the Great, was offered to Persian kings as treasured gifts, decorated the walls of ancient palaces, and were used in royal ceremonies.

These include the Icelandic horse, Fjord horse and Caspian horse breeds.
