Also called Kuda-Gayo, the Gayoe is a pony that comes from the island of Sumatra & the name comes from the Gayoe hills on the island. This pony is closely related to the Batak, Deli, Bali, Java, Sumba & Timor ponies.

The other pony breed found in Central Sumatra is the Gayoe. This pony is probably a strain of the Batak and although the two have similarities, the Gayoe is a more stocky pony with less spirit and quality.
