A Grade horse is a horse whose parentage is unknown, unidentifiable, or of significantly mixed breeding.

 


Grade IV -- front of coffin bone is vertical or behind the vertical.
Grades I's and mild II's can often compete without "the bad stuff" starting to occur. Racehorse Easy Goer has a Grade I-II club foot (which ain't going to help his value at stud).

The term "Grade Horse" refers to mixed breed, or unregistered as pure bred, although pure bred horses are accepted also.

The graded horses are then taken to a 100-day testing, which judges the stallions on performance. This includes temperament, rideability, jumping ability, endurance, speed, and movement.
