It looks like a big Haflinger or a little Noriker. Selected for work in farming and forest in hilly regions. Nowadays it is also often used as coach horse and for riding. It is nimble and lively, has a good character, high fertility and is long-lived.
Purebred Arabian, Nonius and Haflinger horses are being crossed with the Albanian and several improved types are emerging. The goal is to develop a refined yet substantial horse that is ideal for many different uses.
Purebred Arabian, Haflinger and Nonius horses are interbred with Albanian horses to produce improved types. The main purpose behind this interbreeding is to increase the size of the horses so that they can perform agricultural work better.
Originating in the South Tyrol, the Haflinger is a mountain pony, enduring, robust, and versatile, used for all farm labour, for pulling a carriage or sledge (see photograph), and for pack hauling. It is chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail.
The CCr allele does not occur in some breeds, such as Arabs, Haflingers and many of the draught horses. In these breeds there are therefore no cream horses, and also no palomino, buckskin or smokey black horses either.

Many of the Quarter Horses are from high-quality cutting lines. The disease (or something very similar) has also been reported in a cross-bred Arabian mare, a Thoroughbred gelding, a Hanoverian foal, and a Haflinger horse.
For example, the Haflinger can belong to the group of Palomino horses although they may lack the correct set of DNA. Genetically speaking, these horses are chestnuts.
His results stated that "compared with other draft breeds and based upon gene marker data, the Creams form a distinct group within the draft horses. The Creams are no more similar to the Belgian than they are to Suffolks, Percherons, or Haflingers".
