Most of the Hungarian horses were sent to Fort Reno, Oklahoma and Fort Robinson, Nebraska. Later, when the American Army Remount disbanded, these horses were scattered around the country in government dispersal sales.

These modern Hungarian horses clearly display the traits that we desire in the sport horse: conformation, athletic ability, movement, and temperament.
Few countries have experienced the turmoil of war as often as Hungary.

The breed came about when the stud crossed other native Hungarian horses like the Nonius, Kisber Felver, Gidran and Furioso. These breeds have also helped breeds such as the Holsteiner, Hanoverian and Dutch Warmblood.

Later during the 17th, 18th & 19th centuries the Hungarian horses received a fair amount of English & French Thoroughbred blood, as well as half-bloods and Asian animals.

For example, in Germany, Hungarian horses were commonly used for riding. Individual horses were often described by their gait ('trotters' or 'amblers'), by their colouring, or by the name of their breeder.
