In recent years, Kabardas bred in the Karachai republic began to be referred to as the Karachai breed. These horses are generally of the massive type described above.
Uses
The Kabarda horse has been bred for stony and mountainous terrain.

Karachai - dark brown and black
Karakacan - almost all are bay in color
*Kathiawari - ears curve and almost touch at the tips, any color except appaloosa and overo
Kazakh - bay, dark bay or red, occasionaly gray ...

Several years ago the group of Kabardin horses bred in the Karachai republic began to be referred to as the Karachai breed. Most of the Karachai sub-breed are of the so-called massive type (see below).

The Kabardin is the principal breed of the Northern Caucasus, and is widely used to improve native stock in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. The best Kabardins are raised at the Karachai and Malka Farms.
