Kladruby Horse The Kladruby horse breed is the oldest one of Czechoslovakia. At present, this horse breed is very rare. National stud farm Kladruby nad Labem is the main breeding centre.
Kladruby Kladruby stud was found in 1579 by the Emperor of Rome and the Czech King Rudolf II. The foundation charter is on display at the Slatinany Hippologic Museum.
The Kladruby is said to have descended from horses of Spanish and Italian blood. It is supposed to have been developed starting in the 16th Century. Like other horse breeds, the Kladruby underwent several improvement attempts.
Also called the Kladruber & the Kladrubsky, the Kladruby Horse is the only indigenous breed of the Czech Republic and they are descendants of the old Spanish & Italian blood of the 16th & 17th centuries.
