Klepper

Horse KladrubyKnabstrup

- Klepper-
The Klepper is now known as the Torijski breed. It is newer, since it was recognized in the year 1950. Its homeland is in the Estonian republic of the formal USSR and now independent state.

Also called the Klepper, the Estonian Native is one of the few remaining breeds in this area that has effectively resisted the effects of cross breeding & retained the characteristics of a northern horse.
Origins ...

Most arepartly descended from the Klepper, a light draught type from Estonia;and it comes as a curious jolt to discover that "Klepper" is apparently notthe name of a breed but is the local word for "nag".

They originated in the areas around Vyatka and Obva river basins of the former USSR and have probably been influenced by both the Klepper and Konik ponies, while almost certainly being a descendant of the Tarpan.
