Missouri Fox Trotters make excellent mounts for children and beginning riders because of their quiet dispositions and willingness to please. Their smooth gaits eliminate the "bouncing" that inexperienced riders suffer when riding hard trotting breeds.
Missouri Fox Trotters are also recognized for their docile temperament and easy trainability. These traits make them an excellent choice for beginning riders or as an all-around family horse.
Other breeds were introduced into the Spotted Saddle horse, mainly Standardbreds, Mustangs, Missouri Fox Trotters, Peruvian Pasos, Paso Finos, and Racking Horses. This breed is relatively new, and are good natured in temperament, and very versatile.
