This is a lovely compact and sturdy draught horse that was traditionally used for moving timber and other loads. It is a strong and willing worker with a generous temperament.

Originating from Sweden, the North Swedish Horse is a heavy draft and farm workhorse. It is of the same origin as the Dole horse of Norway, which descended from the ancient Scandinavian native horse.
The North Swedish horse sterns from a smaller native horse. Like mostnative domestic horses of all nations which were not of outstandingappearance, it was for centuries interbred indiscriminately with any availablestallion.
The North Swedish Horse is a relatively new breed, it's bloodlines only being about a 100 years old. They come from the same genetics as the Dole horse which comes from the ancient Scandinavian horse.

The North Swedish Horse is a relatively young breed, with its studbook being established in 1909. They are related to the Dole Gudbrandsdal, having both developed from the ancient native horses of the area.
