The Novokirghiz horse is a new breed of horse developed in the 1930s in Kirghizia (Kirghistan). It was developed by breeding the Old Kirghiz with Thoroughbred, Russian Don, and Anglo-Don horses.

The Norwegian Fjord horse retains much of its ancestor's primitive vigour, as well as the uniform dun coat colour. The latter is accompanied by an eel stripe running from the forelock to the tip of the tail, and sometimes by zebra bars on the legs.

The Norwegian Fjord horse is a primitive breed of horses that now has only dun horses, although the dun may be due to another variant of the dun allele.
