The Palomino Horse is a color type that has been revered throughout the ages and continues to be revered today for its majesty and beauty.

Palomino is a coat color in horses, consisting of a gold coat and white mane and tail. Genetically, the palomino color is created by a single allele of a dilution gene called the cream gene working on a red (chestnut) base coat.

Palomino is, strictly speaking, a color type and not a breed, although the American Palomino Horse Society and similar societies in England are trying to establish the Palomino by selective and careful breeding.

Each horse has a unique combination of white and any one of the colors of the equine rainbow: black, bay, brown, chestnut, dun, grulla, sorrel, palomino, gray or roan. Paint or Pinto?

Colonial Spanish Horses come in a full range of solid colors including black, bay, brown, chestnut, sorrel, grullo, zebra and red dun, buckskin, palomino, and cream.

Standard recognized colors of the Mountain Pleasure Horse include, but are not limited to, bay, black, chestnut/sorrel, roan, gray cremello, buckskin, palomino, and chocolate.
Horses must be at least 14.

Morgan coats are predominantly chestnut, bay, or brown, although many black, palomino, buckskin, and even a few grays appear in the breed.

They come in a range of colours including chestnut, bay, black, palomino and grey (but not in broken colours such as Paints and Appaloosas). Horses must be over 14 hands high (most are about 15 hands) to be officially registered as a Quarter Horse.

All simple colorations are allowed: chestnut, bay, brown, black, grey and also palomino, roan and spotted. The head usually has some white as well as the legs.

The most common colours of the American Saddlebred are chestnut, bay, brown and black though other colours including Palomino are seen. The life span of an American Saddlebred can be up to 30 years with good care.

The legs are short and muscular with tough hooves, and the breed commonly has poor hocks. The ponies are usually a mouse-dun color with primitive markings, including a dorsal stripe. They may also be brown, bay, black, or palomino.
