The Paso Fino breed first came to be a mixture of Spanish breeds, such as Barbs, Andalusian and Spanish Jennet.

The Paso Fino was brought to the America's by Christopher Columbus on his second voyage. It is a mixture of Andalusian, Barb and the now extinct Spanish Jennet.
