The Mountain Pleasure Horse originated in the Appalachian terrain of Eastern Kentucky, in about the 1840s.

For more than 160 years, Eastern Kentuckians have enjoyed their homegrown product, the Mountain Pleasure Horse.

Pleasure Horses
Horses that are ridden for pleasure, like those found in Trail MIX, usually require basic grain and hay meals. Caloric needs are met first and foremost, with concentrated, formulated grains, or simply oats or corn, combined with hay.

Breed History:
Curlies were found in the wild horse herds in the U.S. and some Native American herds.

PLEASURE TYPE: Pinto is an animal presented in a natural manner and suitable for: general western, English, and driving events; and a variety of other events.

Pleasure Type
HORSE: Horse of predominantly Arabian Horse and/or Morgan breeding.
PONY: Reflects carriage and conformation associated with the Arabian and Morgan horse and Welsh pony.

Pleasure Horses: Annually and prior to exposure to groups of unknown horses.
Show and Performance Horses: Every 2 to 3 months.
Broodmares: Annually one month prior to foaling date and one month prior to shipping for breeding.

A Pleasure drive can be simply a drive down a country lane, rail trails, a picnic or campfire shared with like minded company held on one day, a weekend or even for a week in public reserves or private property. A great way to see the countryside.

A pleasure and using horse developed in the rugged Ozark Hills, the Missouri Fox Trotter is especially known and selected for its intermediate gait, the fox trot.

The American Saddlebred is descended from the Narragansett Pacer, a breed that is technically "extinct" in the United States.

Western pleasure - the rider must show the horse together with other horses in an arena at a walk, jog (a slow, controlled trot), and lope (a slow, controlled canter).

Western pleasure - the rider must show the horse in walk, jog (a slow, controlled trot), trot and lope (a slow, controlled canter).
