The Senne or Senner Horse comes from the heath area of Senne in Germany and comes from indigenous warmblood animals (which are now extinct) crossed with Arabians, Thoroughbreds & Spanish animals.

The other German pony breed was known to be the Senner pony of the Teutoburg Forest but today, it is considered extinct. The Dulmen is an extremely old breed that was found in the neighborhood of the town of Meerfelder Bruch.

The Senner pony of the Teutoburg Forest was the only other German pony breed, and it is now considered extinct.

The Dulmen is one of two native pony breeds from Germany - the other is the Senner pony, which by some accounts is now considered extinct. The Dulmen has been documented in the Meerfelder Bruch in Westphalia since the 1300s.
