North American Shagya Arabian Horse Breed Association

The Shagya Arabian is a special Arabian breed which is not very well known worldwide because of its rarity. The breed was developed 150-200 years ago on the famous military stud farms of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
No rule without exception, so Shagya Arabians are permitted to stand 14.3 hands. Ponies, trotters, gaited and other horses are not allowed to be registered in AWO.
Thoroughbred, Trakehner, Selle Francais, Anglo-Arabian, Arabian, and Shagya Arabian. With a documented pedigree of four [4] generations. Minimum size requirement of 15.2 [ 157 cm]. These breeds may be registered and branded as Foundation stock.
Not many people realize it but there is definitely more to the Arabian horse breed than meets the eye. One detail that is unfamiliar to many is the emergence of the Shagya Arabian breed.
The Shagya Arabian stallions Gazal III and Siglavy II were then used in order to establish a more stable Anglo-Arabian type. The result was a heterogeneous type known for their excellent jumping and galloping ability.
Accepted crosses: Trakehner, Thoroughbred, Arabian, Anglo-Arabian, Shagya Arabian, and Selle Francais with a four generation pedigree and minimum size of 15.2 hands.
