Tack is a term used to describe any of the various equipment and accessories worn by horses in the course of their use as domesticated animals.

You can't expect to adequately control a horse, especially an energetic horse, if you are longeing in a loose halter.

TACK OF THE PERUVIAN HORSE
The traditional tack of the Peruvian Horse has remained true to his heritage, but they may be ridden in any type of tack that fits properly.

Tack and Supplies: This is an item that so many people overlook when planning for a horse. Realistically, there will be tack and supplies that will need to be repaired or replaced on a regular basis.

Tack: Equipment such as halters, harness, etc.

Tack makers usually prefer leather made through vegetable tanning as opposed to chrome tanning.

Show jumping competitors use a very forward style of English saddle, most often the "close contact" design, which has a forward flap and a seat and cantle that is flatter than saddles designed for general all-purpose English riding or dressage.

Each type is shown in appropriate tack. Pintos standing between 12 and 14 hands are registered as ponies; those between 14.1 and 16 hands are registered as horses.

The law even extends to horse-related equipment - importation of used tack and equipment is forbidden unless the items are completely disinfected. As a result, the Icelandic horse is virtually disease-free in its native country.
