The Trakehner is a European warmblood horse of East Prussian origin, the foundation for which was laid at the main stud farm established in Trakehnen, East Prussia in 1732.
Trakehner is a horse breed. It is the purest of the warmblood breeds, due to the fact that it is the only warmblood breed that has a closed stud book. The Trakehner is generally of a lighter type than most other warmbloods.
Trakehner Warmbloods were then imported into Great Britain in 1960 by the Muschamp Stud and have steadily gained in popularity since.

The Trakehner breed was created about 250 years ago. Its history began from the Trakehner stud foundation in Germany. Eastern-Prussia mares and English Thoroughbred rider stallions is the basis for the breed.
Trakehners won every medal for the German Olympic Team in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

One of Europe's most famous breeds of horse is the Trakehner. This breed originated with the founding of the Trakehner stud in East Prussia by Frederick William I in 1732.
Trakehners in Russia
Trakehners were first brought to Russia in 1925 from East Prussia. Most of them were used as remounts for the Russian cavalry. When bred, the mares appeared to be unsuitable for herd keeping and most of them miscarried.

The Akhal-Teke and the Trakehner

Mares of this heavy warmblood breed crossed with the English Thoroughbred, Anglo-Arabian and Trakehner stallions gave the today's modern Bavarian Warmblood that was registered as a separate breed in 1963.
A very famous example of this is the Trakehner Burnus, who carries not one drop of Trakehner blood, but is in fact a classically bred Kisber Felver. 150 Kisber Felver horses were imported for the US Remount.
The breed was developed from Trakehner, Hanoverian, and English Thoroughbred blood added to local mare stock, or with Furioso and Gidran mares from Hungary. The progeny were interbred and established the Ukrainian Riding Horse type.
From a past working mostly with hanoverian and thoroughbred-cross warmblood types, Ms Domke is enjoying working with Range View's trakehner horses, as well as outside horses and riders.
Some of the popular breeds are Anglo-Arab, Holsteiner, Trakehner and Hanoverian. These breeds are used for dressage, jumping, combined training and combined driving. Warmbloods combine Thoroughbred and Arabian blood with draft breeds.
