The Ukrainian Riding Horse, a relatively new breed developed in Ukraine after World War II to meet the ever-increasing demand for sport horses, was first bred at the Dnepropetrovsk stud.

This breed group was developed in the studs of the Ukraine since the war by crossing Hungarian mares (Nonius, Furioso-Northstar and Gidran) with Trakehner, Hanoverian and Thoroughbred stallions.
