The Viatka pony originated around the Viatka and Obva rivers of the former Soviet Union and is currently on the verge of extinction. They probably developed from the Tarpan, with influence from the Konik and Klepper ponies as well.
The Viatka is an attractive all-purpose pony, used mainly for light agriculturalwork and to pull troikas (sleighs drawn by three horses abreast).
