In the 1950s, the Dutch Warmblood came about by crossing the Gelderlanders with the Groningen, and then refining the horse with Thoroughbred. The Gelderlanders gave the new breed its excellent forequarters.

Dutch Warmblood horses average about 16.2 hands with some reaching 17 hands. Coat colors are chestnut, bay, black or gray with white markings often on the face and legs.

Dutch Warmbloods are often extremely attractive, with free-flowing, extravagant movement that has given it its fame around the world in the dressage genre. It also has a very athletic status with an excellent natural jump.

The Holsteiner initially evolved from native North German stock and were in high demand by the military and royalty throughout Europe. As demand grew for a lighter horse, infusions of the Yorkshire Coach Horse were used.

The warmblood foals out of one of my hot-blooded mares exhibit intelligence of a different nature. In nearly all respects, Duchess' foals have tended to be much more accepting of their training than their dam has been.

Of all the warmbloods, the Trakehner is similar in appearance to a thoroughbred crossed with an Arab. The trakehner is a large horse which is noted for its refined head. Large eyes and a small, tapered muzzle enhance the overall impression of quality.

Warmblood A horse type, often also referred to as sport horses. The are the result from crossing heavier draft-horse(cold bloods) breeds with lighter Thoroughbred or Arabian "hot-bloods".

It is considered to be the lightest and most refined of the warmbloods, with the head clearly showing the Thoroughbred and Arabian blood in the breed. Knowledgeable horse people can readily identify a Trakehner from other warmbloods.

In addition it has exerted a large influence on many horse breeds, especially competitive Warmbloods. The Thoroughbred is descended from 3 hotblooded desert stallions, the Godolfin Arabian, the Darley Arabian, and the Byerly Turk.

Arabian, Morgan, Quarter Horse, Missouri Fox Trotter, and Appaloosa blood have been added over the years to different lines, and Warmblood, Thoroughbred, and Shagya blood are occasionally added now to produce a good, sound, ...

The show jumping or stadium jumping breed has a characteristic height of 16 hands originating from the Warmblood or thoroughbred breeding clan.

My Friesian is a registered Warmblood/Friesian Cross and stands 17 hands and weighs 1450lbs. they are very bright and willing. Fabulous on the trail as well. If you love the breed and cannot afford one then look at cross breeds .

Through time they were cross-bred with other breeds and were one of the first warmblood breeds in Europe.

The breed is often used to add refinement and athleticism to many pony, warmblood and draught horse breeds. Many sport horses have Thoroughbreds in their ancestry. Thoroughbred Arabian crosses are called Anglo-Arabs.

These categories are the light, heavy and pony classifications. Some people prefer to further divide some of these categories with classifications such as warmbloods, draft and gaited horse varieties.

A couple of ponies and warmbloods would lay their ears back and make a bee-line for the correct goal, while some thoroughbreds decided to give up altogether and leave.
