wurttemberger The Württemberger was developed at the Marbach state stud in Germany in the 17th century. At this time, the stud wanted to breed very versatile horses for riding and driving.
THE WURTTEMBERGER The Marbach stud, one of the greatest of the European breeding centers, was founded in 1573. Early in its history it had established a reputation for good utility horses suitable for both riding and light harness work.
There they are evaluated along with stallion hopefuls - köraspirants - branded Bavarian Warmblood, Wurttemberger and Saxony-Thuringian, along with some representatives from other regions.
Their influence can be seen in the Dole Gudbrandsdal of Norway and they were used as base stock at the German stud of Marbach, where they contributed to the early development of the Wurttemberger and Oldenburgh.
