Primitive Striped Zebra Dun Horses, have markings that are known as DUN FACTORS. A Dun Factor horse is different than a Dun Colored horse. These markings are darker than the body color and most often the same color as the mane and tail.

Though not often domesticated, there have been a few instances when people tried. The zebra tends to panic easily making it hard to train. They do have better resistance to disease in Africa than horses.
There are records of onager/ass, onager/horse and zebra/horse (zebroids) crosses, but the cross that has been most significant in human history is one between horses and donkeys.
Dun - Yellowish brown with a dorsal stripe along the back and occasionally zebra stripings on the legs.
Fleabitten gray - refers to usually red hairs flecked in the coat of a gray horse.
Gray - A horse with black skin and clear hairs.
Patibarcina - reddish brown or bay, with a dorsal stripe and zebra striping
Pechora - black, dark brown, bay, buckskin, and sorrel, grey is rare
Peneia - roan, chestnut, and black, rarely bay or brown.
Equus—the genus to which all modern equines, including horses, asses, and zebras, belong—evolved from Pliohippus toward the end of the Pliocene.
Kiger Mustangs are primarily dun in color and have primitive markings, including zebra-like stripes on the upper legs and shoulders as well as stripe running down the middle of the back into the tail-this is called a dorsal stripe.
Colonial Spanish Horses come in a full range of solid colors including black, bay, brown, chestnut, sorrel, grullo, zebra and red dun, buckskin, palomino, and cream.

In addition to having a light coat dun horses have some or all of a number of primitive or zebra markings. This may be because of pleiotropy, with the dilution allele having more than one affect on the phenotype.
Most of the ponies have primitive marks such as eel or dorsal stripes along the back, zebra marks on the legs, shoulder stripes, and dark points. Sometimes these markings fade as the horses grow older, but usually only if the coat is gray.
The Equidae family consists of horses, asses and zebras and there are 9 species within this genus and the domestic horse or pony is "Equus caballus". The Equidae family have a mane, 40-42 teeth, and skulls with long nasal bones.
Often, Sorraia horses have stripes on their legs resembling zebras. Pure Sorraia do not have white markings, and doesn't show any Oriental or North European horse bloodlines.
Spanish Mustangs can be found in colors from appaloosa to Zebra striped dun, as well as grulla, buckskin, paint, palamino, cremello, ysabella, roan and perlino, and the more common colors of bay, chestnut, black and white.
Color: Preferred color dun with dark points, a dorsal stripe, a dark snippetoil withers and slight zebra stripes on legs. Usually there are white markingson legs and face.
The American Criollo tends to be solid to dun, with Zebra dun, Red dun, and Bay being the most common. Black, Grulla, and bay with dun factors also appear. Gray is disallowed in the American Criollo.
As part of my career break I spent a month in southern Africa, which led me to the Okavango Delta in Botswana, where I took a six day horseback safari, which gave me plenty of time to see elephants, zebras, giraffes, and lots of other wildlife.

Dun colored Highland ponies often have a dorsal stripe along their backs, frequently with zebra stripes as well.

Highland ponies are often used as an all round riding and driving pony.

They are most commonly dun in color, have a dorsal stripe that runs from its forlock down to its tail, and sometimes even has the primitive "zebra" markings on its legs.
lt is also said these horses strongly resemble the New Forest ponies, and Welsh breeds, with a Arab stallion being thrown in sometime in the 1960s. They have been scientifically compared to the Zebra, Assuteague ponies and the wild mustangs.
All had dorsal stripes and zebra striped legs. Two subsequent groups were gathered from the same area and were equally uniform in size and color.
While zebras won't defend their young against lions, they run for it, they will stand their ground with hunting dogs and hyenas and are deadly with their hooves.
The Foundation for the preservation and protection of the Przewalski's Horse, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, report that only a few Przewalski horses are tamable, in proportions similar to a Zebra.
