Antiqued is the technique of changing a piece to make it appear aged, which is commonly achieved by either darkening or tarnishing.
Antiqued Jade

This lovely enhanced stone, often beautifully carved, is neither antique nor jade. It is most likely bowenite, a form of serpentine that is very similar to nephrite jade.

This method will take the "Traditional antiqued" method to the next level, coloring the metal a reflective, deep gray-to-black similar to the mineral hematite.
One of the popular techniques for adding an aged or weathered patina to silver is to oxidize a textured silver surface (antiquing, antiqued finish), blackening it, and giving it the look of antiquity.

What is antiquing?
All dvb silver rings (for gold it is optional) are "antiqued" using a chemicalal process during manufacture to speed the tarnishing process in the recesses of engraving to enhance the legibility of the inscription.
The finish on silver can be high polished, matte or brushed (rubbed with an abrasive), satin (a smoother matte), sandblasted (rough matte), oxidized (chemically blackened), or antiqued (chemically "aged").
