Bezel Facets - The eight large, four-sided facets on the crown of a round, brilliant-cut gem, the upper points of which join the table and the lower points join the girdle.

The Crown has Eight Bezel Facets. These are Facets that go around the outside of the Crown and are shaped like a Diamond (or Kite Shaped) that link the Table Facet to the Girdle Facets.

There are 16 upper girdle facets, 8 Star facets, 8 Bezel facets, and a table facet above the girdle. Below the girdle there are 16 lower girdle facets 8 pavilion facets and a culet. (see Old Mine Cut and Old European Cut).

Diamond cutters make every effort to cut a stone so that inclusions are not visible through the table of the finished diamond. The preferred position for inclusions is under the bezel facets or near the girdle because they are harder to see there.
