As the black pearl is so rare and precious it naturally has many folklore and fantasies associated with it. The black pearl is been used from the ancient times and are depicted in many paintings.

 


Most Tahitian "black pearls" are not actually black, but are actually silver, gray, or charcoal. Pure black pearls are extremely rare.
