The most common brilliant cut is the round brilliant, consisting of 58 facets (including the culet), but there are also modified brilliant cuts resulting in different shapes. It is a faceting style, designed to maximize brilliance.

The term "brilliant-cut" was coined at the end of the 17th century and was represented by several forms of faceted diamonds based on the shape of the commonly found octahedral form of the rough crystal.

The oval and round mixed cuts with a brilliant-cut crown and a step-cut pavilion are the most common facet designs used for these gems, even though the zircon cut can be used to display its attributes to better advantage.
RADIANT:
Radiant is a brilliant-cut square or rectangle with clipped-off corners like the emerald cut. It has 70 facets. The radiant was first introduced in 1976.
