Bubbles
Bubbles can be found in glass, resins, and rarely in minerals. Bubbles are a good indication that a stone is glass, or an imitation gemstone.

Bubbles usually can be distinguished by their rounded or oblong shapes, and their very high relief. In cases of doubt as to whether something is a bubble or a rounded off crystal, polarized light can generally be used to discriminate.

BUBBLE - Any transparent inclusion in a diamond. It can also refer to another diamond crystal within a diamond or a grain of a different material.
CABOCHON - An unfaceted cut stone of domed form (having a convex surface). Often called a "cab." ...

Bubblegum-Pink & Hot-Pink Ceylon Sapphire
There is also a very rare orange-pink or red-orange Sri Lankan variety called "padparadscha sapphire" which can be as valuable as diamond.

Bubbles are spherical or tear-shaped bubbles of gas captured in glass stones. Bubbles can also be found in resins (like plastics and amber), and much less-frequently in minerals (like quartz, emerald, and topaz).

Bubbles: Tear shaped gases that are captured in a glass stone.
Burnish Setting: A setting where the stone is set flush with the setting without prongs to hold it.

Tiny bubbles... A group of small gas bubbles, indicative of oil filling. (Photo: GAAJ)
Last month, the GAAJ Research Laboratory produced a report on the detection of filling material in emerald, specifically oils and resins. The report discusses: ...

2. If bubbles are present in artificial material they will be round or rounding.
3. Artificial material will always have curving parallel striae within it.

Trapped gas bubbles are clearly visible in this synthetic flame fusion blue sapphire. Trapped during synthesis, such bubbles are not seen in natural ruby and sapphire.

If there are no bubbles and you do not smell acetylene, and your gauges are steady, you are ready to use the torch. Always use a striker -- never a cigarette lighter or matches -- to light a torch.

Comments: Rare (crystal), poor jewelry material, but a collector's item; brilliant fluorescence in light yellow to white when free of iron, green is non fluorescent and can be distinguished from smithsonite by the lack of CO2 bubbles in solution in ...

Sometimes it may have insects locked inside which were trapped in the sap, or have other interesting bubbles and inclusions which create beautiful patterns in the material. Much of the Amber on the market today comes from the Baltic region.

amygdule A small, bubble-like mass formed from volcanic igneous rock that solidified and a bubble of gas got trapped in the interior.

Some inclusions give obsidian a metallic sheen, while internal bubbles or crystals produce a "snowflake" effect (called snowflake obsidian) or an iridescence seen as flashes of color.

Sometimes a diamond contains a mineral crystal that looks like a bubble or black spot and this feature is called crystal.

The second most valuable fancy sapphire is "electric" or "bubble gum" pink. The best of these gems have a pure vibrant and vivid pink color.

Synthetic ruby grown by the flame fusion technique usually shows curved growth striations or curved color zoning, and may contain unmelted grains and gas bubbles.

When turned on they vibrate the solution at ultrahigh frequency causing cavitation, the formation and collapse of bubbles. This cavitation scrubs off dirt and soluble minerals very fast without damaging delicate crystals.

When these flaws / marks occur internally, they are called inclusions and the most common types of inclusions include Crystals, Tiny Bubbles representing small minerals that were absorbed into the diamond while it was growing, Internal Graining, ...

Some inclusions can be bubbles or crystals, creating a random pattern such as snowflake. Obsidian is extremely rich in silica (about 35-80%) and is low in water.

Emeralds are often characterized by a garden of inclusions of veils of tiny bubbles and other types of minerals trapped within the stone. Under magnification, you will see all sorts of lovely patterns resembling foliage in a garden.

The most common types of inclusions include crystals, tiny bubbles representing small minerals that were absorbed into the diamond while it was growing; pinpoints, crystals so tiny that they only appear as little dots under 10x magnification; ...

Pulegoso - A technique used to create an almost opaque glass through the inclusion of innumerable bubbles or puleghe in the glass.

It contain tiny bubbles of air that are aligned along the layers created in the process of molten rock flowing just before being cooled. These captured bubbles produces interesting effects like golden sheen or a rainbow sheen.

It was believed that a gem that bubbled over with vivacity to such an extent as the fire opal could only have been created in the waters of paradise.

Amber often possess gas bubbles which vary in size and quantity within each piece. In the space between the bubbles, the resin is clear ...

As a mollusk creates a pearl, sometimes the layers of nacre do not adhere smoothly, so spots and bubbles can appear. These imperfections may be small and unnoticeable or large and distinct.

Approximately 130 million years ago, the coolingvolcanic lava gas bubbles were trapped when water percolated through the rockand dissolved silica as it formed the amethyst crystals.

The melt, with or without suspended crystals and gas bubbles, is called magma. Magma rises because it is less dense than the rock from which it was created.

Inclusions include flaws such as air bubbles, cracks, and non-diamond minerals found in the diamond. Blemishes include scratches, pits, and chips. Some blemishes occur during the cutting processes (most often at the girdle).

Such stones can be distinguished from natural stones by use of a microscope which will reveal internal curved striae, and also the presence of tiny spherical gas bubbles (although such bubbles may be minimized by modern processes); ...

Golden Obsidian A type of obsidian which occurs when gas bubbles from the original lava flow are trapped in the obsidian as it is forming. The impurities of the gasses cause a golden sheen to occur, giving the obsidian a golden appearance.

vibrator - in jewelry casting it is a table that shakes at a significant intensity to cause air bubbles to rise out of an investment slurry before the burnout cycle is begun.

Also trapped in amber were bubbles which contained gases that gave strong clues as to the earth’s atmosphere at the time the amber was formed. Most of it was found in the Baltic region.
Amber goes as far back as 5000 B.C.

a process for concentrating materials based on the selective adhesion of certain minerals to air bubbles in a mixture of water and ground-up ore.

Lost Wax Casting - A process of casting wherein a wax model is encased in an investment, which is agitated mechanically or put into a vacuum to remove air bubbles.

Reconstructed stones often have telltale air bubbles. For example, "Geneva rubies" (reconstructed rubies) are made from tiny ruby crystals that have been fused together.

Though not examples of mineral inclusions, specimens containing liquid, organic, gas and /or bubble inclusions
in mineral species can elucidate much about the nature of a mineral deposit and its mineralising fluids.

Inclusions - Internal flaws in a gemstone such as specks, carbon, tiny bubbles, hairlines and other imperfections of crystallization.

Sometimes spots and bubbles can appear in the layering process. Pearls with the smoothest surfaces are the highest-quality, most sought-after pearls. At Blue Nile, to offer you a range of prices, we offer pearls with a range of surface qualities.

Emeralds naturally occur with inclusions of veils of tiny bubbles and other minerals trapped within the stone. When seen under magnification, you will see all sorts of lovely patterns resembling foliage in a garden.

Imperfections such as spots, lines, or bubbles are known as inclusions. The diamond is more valuable when it has fewer inclusions.

Cranberry red, hot magenta, bubblegum pink, peach and orange, canary yellow, mint, grass and forest green, ocean blue, violet, and even bicolor pink and green stones: tourmaline is all these and more.

Inclusion can be bubbles, crystals, carbon spots, feathers, clouds, pinpoints, or other impurities, or even cracks and abrasions. They are what make a diamond so unique, as a fingerprint does for a person.

Ultrasonic cleaners: Ultrasonic cleaners convert high-frequency sound waves into electrical energy, which causes a solution to bubble. This type of cleaning method is quite useful when intricate pieces of jewelry are involved.

There are a number of ways to detect facture filled diamonds, and these include the flash effect already mentioned, flow structure, gas bubbles, crackled texture, incomplete filling, cloudy surface, cloudy filled area, melting, ...

This may be a foreign body such as a crystal, a gas bubble or a pocket of liquid. There are many varieties of inclusions and they are important visual clues for identifying the type of gemstone and for identifying the origin of the stone.

Crystal structure -- Amorphous, often containing distinctive round gas bubbles and a swirled/whorled appearance.
Specific Gravity -- Varies widely from 2.0 to 5.0.
Varieties.

This is due to the presence of hematite and a golden glow is given out by obsidian which is because of the presence of small gas bubbles. The obsidian is also known as snowflake obsidian because of its close resemblance with snowflakes.

When the vibration speed rises above the ultrasonic frequency level, bubbles explode and generate strong power, cleaning the surfaces and cavities of hard-to-clean objects.
