A calibrated stone is one that has been cut exactly to a standard size, i.e. 5 mm, 10 mm x 14 mm.

Calibrated:
As a result of most jewelry being manufactured, settings and mountings are designed to accommodate gemstones within specific tolerances. Gemstones that are cut to these specifications are called calibrated stones.

A Jemeter is calibrated to display refractive Indices at the mean sodium D line of 589.3 nm. Jemeters cover the full refractive-index range from 1.450 to 2.999 and do not require contact liquid.

Calibrated:A gemstone that is cut to an industry standard size in order to fit most manufactured jewelry mountings.

A plastic sizer will be different than a calibrated steel sizer. A wide ring sizer is only 5mm wide. Guys, if someone tells you that you wear a size six, please be sure they are not looking at a 9.0 upside down.
