Clear quartz enhances the healing properties of all gemstones, except obsidian. Never wear clear quartz and obsidian together because they will eliminate each other's working.

At first glance the clear quartz crystals seem to have a soft green background, but when you use transmitted light the piece glows vivid green. The dioptase-laden back side brings out a different character when backlit, as seen below.

These quartz show phantom shapes that is clear quartz interior and amethyst colored exterior. Guerrero mines in Mexico have amethyst stones which are dark purple prismatic crystals radiating outward from a common attachment point.
The Western j amethyst is a clear quartz, coloured violet by the oxide of manganese which it contains: of the specific gravity of 2-7, it crystallizes in the form of a hexagon, terminated at the two heads by a species of cone with six facets.
Thin seams of opal are often assembled with backing of opal or black onyx to produce a doublet, and a clear quartz top is added to produce a triplet.

White Quartz
A translucent white mineral consisting of silicon dioxide in crystal form. White Quartz is basically clear quartz with a high degree of cloudiness. It is usually uniform in terms of the color, but has areas of more or less opacity.
Natural ammolite is a 3.5 - 4 on the Mohs scale and is extremely delicate and brittle but triplets with protective clear quartz or spinel caps increase the hardness to 7 to 8.5, making the stone more durable for jewelry.
Platelet-like forms of red hematite or lepidocrosite can give an overall pink or red color to a clear quartz as in the strawberry and raspberry quartzes.
The presence of minute quantities of chemical impurities, mostly iron and aluminum turns ordinary clear quartz into purple amethyst. Ideally, it is a deep medium purple with rose-colored flashes that give amethyst its beauty and fire.
