Clip-on
Clip-on is a piece of jewelry that is fastened by a clip and does not require piercing, i.e. clip on earrings.

Clip-on Earrings
Earrings that can be worn by those without pierced ears. Clip-on styles vary from screw backs, spring loaded clips, or magnetic earrings.

Clip-on: Not for pierced ears, these earrings are attached to the earlobe by means of a hinged clip on the back of the earring.

Generally earrings come up in two basic styles - clip-on and pierced. The technology marvels and the intelligence of human brain have tried to keep pace with the go of the age and a wide variety have come out gradually, like j-hoop, half-hoop etc.

In the early 1930s, the clip-on earring back was patented, opening up a new style of earring that primarily rested on the ear. Yard designed a distinctive ear-clip style that curved up the lobe.

Non Pierced Earrings: Earrings for non-pierced ears - usually magnetic or clip-on earrings.
Patina: The finish of a metal's surface. Usually refers to the look of the finish after age.

FRENCH CLIP:
An earring for non-pierced ears, consisting of a spring clip with padding to hold the earring in place against the back of ear. Also called a clip-on earring.
