The Ascorp diamond trading company was formed in the year 2000. Ascorp or the Angolan selling corporation is a government as well as a private organization. Apart from private investments the government is also a share holder of the company.
The Diamond Trading Company, or DTC, is a subsidiary of De Beers and markets rough diamonds produced both by De Beers mines and other mines from which it purchases rough diamond production.
With is head quarters in South Africa, it was operating from London as 'Diamond Trading Company' in Europe as C.S.O. or 'Central Selling Organization', in Israel as 'The Syndicate'.
In the 1960's, the famous phrase "a diamond is forever" was coined (and trademarked) by the Diamond Trading Company, and even became the title of a James Bond movie! ...
Rough diamonds are sent directly from De Beers mining operations in Africa (#1), or secondary mining producers in Canada and Russia to De Beers' Diamond Trading Company (DTC) in London, Gaborone, Kimberley and Windhoek, for sorting and resale.
