EYE CLEAN:
Referring to a diamond or gemstone that has no visible inclusions or imperfections to the naked eye. The stone may have inclusions or flaws, but they are only viewable under magnification.

The term "eye clean" was formerly used to describe diamonds with small inclusions. With the establishing of exact definitions of the individual clarity grades, there is no room for this term any more and should not be used.
The SI3 Clarity Grade - The SI3 clarity grade has evolved to mean a mostly "eye clean" I1 clarity, in other words a designation for a low SI2 or high I1 clarity.
Tanzanite described as Eye Clean or Slightly Included may contain minor inclusions can be viewed only under magnification but are not visible to the unaided eye.

Clarity really is in the eye of the beholder and any Clarity SI1 or higher (eye clean Diamonds) will make for a great Engagement Ring Diamond. Anything SI2 or lower can still be a good Diamond, but they do deserve more scruitiny.
The basic rule with Tanzanite is that it should be at least eye clean but preferably loupe clean also. Top grade stones are loupe clean. Any lesser clarity grade will affect the value downwards and denotes a lower grade stone.
The finest stones are eye clean and have a deep, lime green color. Because inclusions are common, clarity is an extremely important factor when buying peridot.
