The two faces of the Base, or basal pinacoid, are normal to the c axis and parallel to each other, and are generally denoted by the italic letter c. Their Miller indices are (0001) and (000-1).

Having four faces. Tetrahedral is one of the crystal forms of diamond.
Thermoluminescence
The property of diamonds and other materials to emit light when heated.

octahedral faces The eight triangular faces make up an octahedral crystal. Also see octahedral crystal.

Glare from surfaces and unpleasant lighting in the workspace can be a problem. Remember that your studio is an entire environment. Make it as comfortable for your eyes as possible. Make it a nice place to be-you will do better work.

If nothing surfaces immediately, there's no need to force it. Just relax and let your thoughts wander, or if you're focused on a specific issue, allow that issue to come into your awareness. Play with it.

A gem of plane faces or facets.
Fish Hook
A fishhook-shaped finding used to make earrings with the hook end passing through the pierced ear.

A gem of plane faces or facets.
Fetish
An amulet, pendant, or charm often representing an animal or person.

The polished surfaces, which are known as the "facets", of a well polished Diamond will look like mirrors. The proportions of a Diamond are the key to how much light will enter and then be reflected back out of the Diamond.

Two intersecting faces that are caused by mirroring (topaz) commonly forms domes. Sphenoids are found in monoclinic and orthorhombic minerals, and have two-fold rotational axes.

faceted - Flat surfaces ground onto beads or stones to create a more reflective surface.
finding - A metal jewelry component used to connect other jewelry components, such as clasps, earring hooks, jump rings, or chain.

See how the stone faces up. If it still looks great, it may not be a bad choice, unless you break the stone.

Brilliance refers to the amount of white light that is returned to the eye from both internal and external surfaces.

At first I thought that they were merely kyanite, as they appeared to possess the different hardness on two faces of the crystal which is characteristic of that mineral; but Mr.

On stones harder than quartz (Moh's hardness of 7), it's safe to do a little gentle scrubbing with a soft toothbrush, but if you're cleaning jewelry, be careful not to scrub highly polished metal surfaces, ...

Both the positioning of crystal faces in a mineral and the property of cleavage are derived from the crystalline structure of the species.

Surfaces of the same material, but of varying degrees of smoothness would, of course, vary in the vividness of their luster, but the type of variation that may be made use of to help distinguish gems, ...

Scalenohedron - A crystal in the hexagonal system displaying irregular triangular faces. (Calcite)
Scepter Crystal - A compound crystal where a larger crystal has grown atop a smaller prismatic crystal.

They occur in nature as eight-sided crystals known as octahedrons (eight faces). To best use their natural form and unique optical properties, they are commonly fashioned into the 58-facet cut known as the modern round brilliant.

THE MANY FORMS AND FACES OF TURQUOISE...
Most people, when they think turquoise, they think big, chunky and loud.

(4) An industry product or part thereof, on which there has been affixed on all significant surfaces by an electrolytic process, an electroplating of gold, or of a gold alloy of not less than 10 karat fineness, ...

The crystal faces developed on a specimen may arise either as a result of growth or of cleavage. In either case, they reflect the internal symmetry of the crystal structure that makes the mineral unique.

Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate named for the hemimorphic ("half-formed") way its crystals develop: faces that grow on one end are different in angle and position from the faces on the other end.

Roman numerals are commonly used in clock faces and watch dials. Rope Chain:A chain comprised of a series of small, oval-shaped precious metal links that are designed to resemble a woven rope.

When this dust comes into contact with absorbent surfaces such as skin or clothing, it sticks, forming a black smudge. To prevent this, try switching cosmetics.

Horizontal stria common on prism faces. Cryptocrystalline varieties are massive.

The metals are gilded on exposed and visible surfaces.
Cloisonné: Enameling in which thin wire made of silver, gold, bronze or copper is gilded, then bent to form cells (cloisons). Each cell or cloison is then filled with enamel.

Subtle ruby studs in round, oval, emerald cut or princess shape work wonders for square faces. You can find a lot of choices when it comes to danglers or drop earrings.

A perfect crystal is bounded by plane faces which meet at angles specific for each kind of material (angle analysis can identify minerals).

When parallel, needle-like inclusions, or tube-like channels, are oriented along two or more of the crystal faces of a mineral, and when that stone is cut as a domed cabochon, a four to six rayed figure is displayed on the dome.

Be Friendly: I'm sure you've seen people use smiley faces in their email to you. These are often used to make sure we understand when someone is joking or teasing us, and his/her comments are just made in jest.

A good photograph will carefully illuminate the crystal faces so that each face is differentiated from adjacent faces. To do this, several light sources and small reflectors will be used.

However, with the use of diamonds in jewelry, sometime in the 13th century it became known that a diamond's appearance could be enhanced by grinding and polishing [later by cleavage (below)] along the four octahedral faces (below) of the ...

This characteristic refers to the finishing or final polishing of the facets, or flat surfaces. The polish of a diamond is generally defined as either Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good, or Excellent.

Facet: The smooth, flat faces on the surface of a diamond. They allow light to both enter a diamond and reflect off its surface at different angles, creating the wonderful play of color and light for which diamonds are famous.

Cassiterite is primarily concentrated in alluvial surfaces. They are mainly available in the tin mines located in Bolivia where they exist in hydrothermal veins. This type of ore is available in small elements that are derived from igneous rocks.

Chain nose pliers have jaws with flat smooth surfaces in the inside of the jaws. These flat surfaces are used for griping and holding wire while leaving minimal marks on the wire.

In economic terms, the most important mine is at Coscuez, where some 60 faces are being worked. According to estimates, approximately three quarters of Colombia's emerald production now comes from the Coscuez Mine.

Gold-filled jewelry consists of a layer of 10K gold or better mechanically bonded to the surfaces of a base (non-precious) metal. This layer of 10K gold must be a minimum of 1/20th of the total metal weight to be called gold filled.

While pearls with clean and even surfaces reflect more light than pearls with blemished surfaces, please remember that as a natural creation, like inclusions in mineral gems, most pearls do have blemishes.

Diamond takes a fine polish, which makes its surfaces highly reflective. This type of luster is described as adamantine. Diamonds come in all colors of the rainbow.

Local tales in Karnataka (India) say that if it is worn as a visible pendant or as a headgear then anyone who faces you as an enemy looses half his valour. The power of star ruby is said to be the highest during full moon.

Faceted - A faceted stone has small, flat-cut surfaces that make a sparkling effect on transparent stones, although translucent and even sometimes opaque stones are faceted.

Facet Facets are the small flat surfaces of a glass, crystal or gemstone bead. These polished, flat planes are a major determining factor in enhancing the bead's ability to sparkle or reflect light.

They can easily be damaged by hard surfaces, including other jewelry in your jewelry box. To avoid that, always store opal jewelry wrapped in protective cloth or in its own box.

Facets: These are the tiny surfaces polished onto a rough diamond that gives a finished diamond its shape. The way light interacts with these facets affects a diamond's brilliance and sparkle.
