Fleur-de-lys: From Old French "flor de lis": flor (flower) + de (of) + lis (lily). A stylized, three-petaled iris flower, used as the armorial emblem of the Kings of France, re-popularized by Napoleon. It is commonly found in jewelry.
Fleur-de-lys - This royal insignia of France is an iris with three petals, and is often used as a decoration in jewelry.
Brooches were also decorated with miniature Limoges painted enamel portraits (above, center), surrounded by Etruscan style granulation, filigree and fleur d'lis (fleur-de-lys).
