Green sapphire comes from Cambodia, but the color is usually muddy and unattractive (with a few very rare exceptions); Dark blue and yellow sapphires also come from Australia, but are so scarce that few are available in the world marketplace.

Green sapphires are abundant from Australia and Thailand. The color of green is usually a dull green resembling an Army uniform green, almost a jungle camouflage color.

Green sapphires usually have a color range of light lime green to an olive green color. Green sapphires mostly come from Sri Lanka and Tanzania, with some new deposits being mined in Madagascar as well.

In his system true emerald is called 'Occidental emerald', tourmaline is called 'Brazilian emerald', green sapphire is 'Oriental emerald', and yellow or orange sapphires are called 'Oriental topaz'.

CORUNDUM A gem species that is found in many colors. Red Corundum is called Ruby and all other varieties are called Sapphire. Blue Sapphire is best known, however Pink Sapphire, Green Sapphire, and Yellow Sapphire are also relatively popular.

Orange Sapphire - orange to lighter yellow brown or pale orange
