Heart Shapes are a beautiful Cut of Diamond, but people either love it or hate it. Some think it's cheesy, others adore it.
Heart Cut Diamonds look best with the point or tip facing down the finger.

The better cut heart shapes will have a length-to-width ratio of just about 1.00:1.00, with a little variation from about 0.98:1.00 to 1.02:1.00.
This shape is seen frequently in pendants, but is suitable for most any purpose.
In fairness, though we should add that because of the greater variability of heart shapes compared with rounds, it is more difficult to sort and source matching pairs, sets or "layouts" of heart shapes.
With fancy cuts, too, - navettes, baguettes, pears, heart shapes or emerald cuts - one must concentrate on the point of the stone. In these cuts the color impact can differ in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
