Hue Refers to the position of a color on the color wheel, or the dominant wavelength of color attributed to a gemstone. There are six primary hues: violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red.

If cut on the C axis of the crystal, tourmaline with a primary blue hue will face-up blue, but not without just a slight hint of a secondary hue of green (ten to twenty percent).
